A Hundred Bees

Day Christensen and Bonnie Sucec, 1999. Art in Transit/City Center Station. Salt Lake City. Text from the plaque: "The one hundred bronze bees swarming on this station reflect the activity and industry of the beehive. The windscreens have been handpainted and fired to fuse the vitreous paints to the glass, creating the vibrant colors and forms symbolic of the commercial center of the city. Art in Transit, the public art program for TRAX is the result of a partnership between Utah Transit Authority, Federal Transit Administration, Salt Lake City Corporation, Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Art Design Board, Salt Lake City Arts Council and the artists."
