Water Cooling Fountain

Pasadena, 1938. This is one of three electric fountains in the Los Angeles area. The other electric fountains are located in Beverly Hills and near Griffith Park.

 

Text from the plaque: "Water colling fountain erected 1938. City of Pasadena. Board of City Directors. Edward O. Nay, Chairman. Albert I. Stewart, Vice Chairman. Robert E. Dawson, Milton S. Brenner, Charles C. Hamill, Jr., Carl G. Wopschall, Leonard L. Riccardi. C. Wellington Koiner, City Manager. Benjamin F. DeLanty, General Manager, Municipal Light and Power Department. Harold H. Lewis, Designer. This fountain serves as the cooling unit in the generator air colling system of the power plant. The quantity of water circulated averages five hundred gallons per minute."

Time capsule plaque: "1906-2006. Pasadena Water & Power. Celebrating 100 years of community-owned power. This time capsule is dedicated to all PWP employees who have contributed a century of service to Pasadena from 1906-2006. To be opened in 2106 during PWP's bicentennial celebration. May 2006."
