Jesse A. Brewer, Jr. Park

The pavement is shaped as a double helix, and has inscriptions such as "Receip for Life; DNA enlarged more than 2.5 billion times.". Text from plaque: "Jesse A. Brewer, Jr. October 11, 1921 - November 19, 1995. The Board of Directors of the California Science Center and the Board of Trustees of the California Science Center Foundation commemorate the dedication of the Jesse A. Brewer, Jr. Park, on this 14th day of October, 1998, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, California. This Park will serve as a tribute to Assistant Chief Brewer whose distinguished career in the Los Angeles Police Department, meritorious service in the military and volunteer involvement highlighted his commitment to the betterment of his community and country. He served as a member of the California Science Center Board of Directors and Commissioner of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission, dedicating his time to the improvement and utilization of Exposition Park. May the Jesse A. Brewer, Jr. Park serve the children of Los Angeles and stand as a lasting legacy to the man who sought to make our community a better place to live.
